Monte Veronese cheese, Valpolicella, Bardolino and other lesser known but beautiful wines from the many surrounding regional vineyards in the foothills amongst the brilliant blue lakes, a delicate bread called Pandoro di Verona served around the world especially at Christmas time, a delicate coffee cake called Mandorlato di Cologna Veneta, a sweet pastry called Sfogliatine di Villafranca, and Veronese salami, redolent with garlic, are all legendary products of Verona.
